Life hanging by a thread crocheting

No need to explain the title. Life cant be controlled.
life hanging by a thread & crocheting. This describes me pretty well.
I have many thing in abundance. Not always what I want but I have learned to accept what is presented before me ....thats Gods funny little way.
Example this summer we had a pool up. I wrangled the thing out of a box-off a shelf in the garage, thru the house onto the deck. That itself was a real feat one might think. But then the manual...uughhhh. pages & pages of directions, this goes here &then plug that in there & in 2 minutes it is suppossed to be set UP??
well...not so. Now I was doing this while DH was at work. He insisted that I could not do it alone "SO DONT TRY" he says...hmmm :) well...perhaps I dont listen well. I am getting older & often ahve trouble hearing-tho I thinik it is just him mumbling. BUT,I did get it all done...it is one of those aero pools. I measured & it should fit on the half of the deck according to all my calculations. Then the table, chairs & umbrealla will all be ok. It worked out ok, kinda. I turned on the hose but the water was the same temp as Lake Michigan in the winter.(This might be a clue that I am a born & raised Midwesterner) So I got out buckets & pots, pans anything to ttransport water in. I thought it was a good idea to turn the kitchen faucet on hot & fill all the Metal buckets and yes, tote them thru the house to fill the pool. That idea was better in my head. After many, many , many trips with small buckets and pots filled to the brim with scalding hot water well, the pool did get filled with a nice blend of freezing and hot water....eventually.
~lets review the `hanging with a thread' thing here.....You might say "did you think that `maybe' you might MELT the pool?" hmmm.. OR you might think " arent 3rd degreee burns a clue to DH that I did not think this thru?" and so on....
I did have my crochet things waiting on the table under the umbrealla...heehee yes, sitting there waiting for me to sit & relax the afternoon away. did not happen that way. Well. We did eventually say "this is nice" & hoped for a summer of sunshine & little rain.
SO what do we get? the most unbelievable heat the Carolinas have had in decades. 103-105-107 for several weeks & I am pretty sure that was the temp in the shade. AND NO RAIN. The Worst drought in decades. Life altering Drought. But we did enjoy the pool and guess what else? great tans...and fired frizzled bleached hair. The falling out of head fried hair. oh the price we pay for a good idea. I will find a picture of the guys in the pool.
This brings me back to ~ Life hanging by a thread..crocheting ~ thats me...
I have bags packed, filled with yarn-hooks & patterns, sitting on the stairs, hanging on doorknobs, on hooks the inside of doors. Ready to go at a moments notice. I can be found walking the halls of the hospital with hook in hand & yarn under my arm. As I did for days while my dad was in the CCU after his strokes this year. I can be found in the van crocheting--hey, now I even have the Lighted crochet hook so darkness is NOT a problem. No matter what life brings my way, I figure I can crochet my way thru it, or around it.

Another little funny from God sent my way...as I enter this voyage with words. I sit on the loveseat in the living room by the large windows overlooking the backyard. I opened the windows for some fresh air earlier and it has been raining steady for about 8 hours. This fact made the local news & they are actually reporting how many gallons of water every hour. With the drought & water restrictions here it is welcomed but they say too much too fast will not help the drought.
I get it - the ground has been so dry it has literally cracked open all over. Lakes are simply dried up vanished, the boats sit on dry earth at the end of docks. I wonder what happpened to all the fish & things in the lakes? Is this how things went extinct? Well, we do have kayaks, we can get them out of the shed and I do have my crochet bag packed & ready to go. Hmmm, perhaps I better go & prepare a few backpacks & stash them in the kayaks. That reminds me-I better go find the paddles too.
Funny how things come full circle. drought-rain.
Everything can be a blessing, some blessing are harder to see at first.
I will say a prayer that some of this rain & cool air finds its way to help the firefighters fight the fires in California.
K

You have a great sense of humor, just like our friend Donna. You really know how to tell a story and make it funny no matter how mundane it may seen to you. Donna does that too. Welcome to Blogger. So happy to see you. You will go on my favorites list as soon as I work on my blog next time.

Welcome, welcome! I always enjoy your stories. I am sitting here LMBO, picturing you bringing bucket after bucket of water out to the pool. I'm still laughing. What is wonderful, is that you can see the humor in all situations and share with others so we can all enjoy. Thanks! I look forward to visiting your blog whenever you have the time to update.
